There can be only two reasons why you landed on this page, my friend. You’re craving way more than what a normal romance drama can offer (the category that I fall in); or you have a fantasy that can only be satisfied by watching Boys Love Dramas. Let’s face it, BL Dramas are life. The affection, the cutesy sh*t, the KISSES (OH MY GOD THE KISSES!!). You can watch hundreds of romance shows, but nothing beats a good BL Drama.
Here is a list made by yours truly of some really good Thai BL Dramas just for you. For all those beginners, I urge you to be careful – once you go BL, you can never go back.
BAD BUDDY (2021)
Now, this one is a highlight of 2021, if I do say so myself. This show aired on 29th October, 2021 and ended on January 21, 2022 with a total of 12 episodes. Starring Nanon Korapat (Pran) and Ohm Pawat (Pat), this drama revolves around the deep and raging rivalry between Pran and Pat’s families. Both the families are always competing and trying to outdo each other in literally every single thing they do. Sounds very Asian of course. What was once a rivalry among the elders is now extended towards their sons, Pran and Pat. From their academics to their curricular activities, no stone is left unturned by both families. Every chance they get is an opportunity to gloat and outshine each other.
Funny enough, one would think Pran and Pat would be the worst of enemies. I mean, they were entangled in all this rivalry and trying to do better than the other. But that was until they got tired of that nonsense and decided to be friends. Soon enough, Pran and Pat become really good friends – but their friendship is to be kept a secret due to the age-old rivalry between their families. You know the drill, secret friendships always end up in some sort of secret romance. And that is exactly what happens to Pran and Pat.
THEORY OF LOVE 2019
Played by Off Jumpol (Khai) and Gun Atthaphan (Third), I have to say that this Thai series has – legit – the best kisses! Third, who is a filmology major and a part of the Savage Team in their school, has had the longest crush on his friend Khai, who is also a member of the team. Another secret romance. Thinking that there isn’t a possible future between him and Khai, Third locks up his feelings for 3 years, silently watching and looking after Khai. Why, you ask? Well, firstly, Third thought that Khai is an asshole who is a major player – but the bigger reason is cause Khai is straighter than a straightener (at least that’s what he thought).
Poor Third had to see Khai bring a different girl home every other night. Time and time again, Third tried to see Khai as just a friend, but one’s emotions are always stronger than one’s mind. It’s freaking easy to fall in love, but to get out of love is a whole other story and Third is unable to keep up with that. But I guess everybody has their breaking point and eventually, Third did too. That is when Third decides to stop – but Khai, on the other hand, has just started to notice Third from a different angle.
KINNPORSCHE 2022
Alright, time to confess – I am a huge fan of a good Mafia storyline. Mafias are hot, sexy and charming. Deadly, but I’d still f*ck them. Now, if you put mafia and BL together, you got me, girl! Okay, first of all, you cannot watch this without pausing every other minute to calm your swooning ass. Mostly cause the actors in here are eye-treats. Kinn Theerapanyakul, a second son of a Mafia boss, is on the run from an enemy when he meets Porsche, an enterprising young waiter. In some agreement, Porsche agrees to help defend Kinn for a sum of 50,000 Baht.
Impressed by this dude’s martial arts skills, Kinn decides to hire Porsche as his personal bodyguard. Initially, Porsche declines the offer, but soon finds his family and his home in danger. What happens next? He moves in under the Theerapanyakul property. His relationship with Kinn lays somewhere between playful and strained. Porsche starts falling for Kinn, unaware of the relationship the two are getting themselves into.
