Characters, plots and timeless tales are usually what people remember about movies. However, what most people don’t realize is how much effort goes into selecting the outfits, venues and props for every scene. All of these factors play a role in a movie production, and can transform a mediocre film into a memorable one.

There are numerous great pieces of renowned movie jewellery that come to mind, but there are only a few fine pieces that truly stand out. Have you ever wondered how much a character’s jewellery costs? According to Confused.com‘s most recent study (Q2 2022) and with professional estimates offered by Queensmith, research has uncovered the most expensive jewellery items worn by movie stars on the big screen.

The Heart of the Ocean necklace worn by Rose in Titanic is the most valuable piece of jewellery in cinema history. The jewellery, which belongs to Kate Winslet’s character, is worth RM2,201,547,375. The Hope Diamond (45.52-carat), taken from India in the 17th century, inspired the necklace, which has a renowned 56-carat heart-shaped blue diamond. It is regarded as one of the most precious diamonds in the world.

The RM659,475,000 Toussaint necklace worn by Daphne Kluger in Ocean’s 8 is the second most valuable piece of jewellery on the big screen. The 136.25-carat blue-white Queen of Holland diamond and a 12-carat olive-green diamond are among the gems in Anne Hathaway’s character’s necklace. This jewel is worth 198 percent more than the Bvlgari necklace worn by Lady Gaga in House of Gucci (2021) as Patrizia Reggiani .

The 128.54 canary diamond necklace, worn by Linnet Doyle (Gal Gadot) in the recently released Death on the Nile (2022), is in third place. It’s a replica of the Tiffany, one of the world’s largest yellow diamonds, valued at RM131,895,000. This diamond was unearthed in 1877 in South Africa and cut with 82 facets to maximise brilliance rather than size. It’s valued six times more than the Isadora, a yellow diamond necklace worn by Andie in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days (2003).

TV’s most expensive jewellery

Engagement rings are the most pricey jewellery items on television, with those featured in The Crown and Gossip Girl topping the list. It’s no surprise that a duplicate of Princess Diana’s engagement ring will appear in the Netflix series The Crown, as it is one of the most famous items in jewellery history. It’s worth RM2,201,547 and is made of a 12-carat blue sapphire and 14 solitaire diamonds. This is 66 percent more expensive than the gold and ruby earrings worn by the mythical Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton (2020).

Blair Waldorf‘s engagement ring from Gossip Girl is also suitable for a princess and worth RM2,201,547. A cushion cut diamond is set in a tapered baguette setting in the timelessly elegant 8-carat Harry Winston.
