Seriously? There is no effin’ way that this could have gotten taken out of the new Batman movie! Apparently, our favourite archrivals, Batman and the Joker, actually come face-to-face in the movie – we were just never shown it! The deleted clip, now available on YouTube, shows Robert Pattinson’s Batman meeting Barry Keoghan’s Joker at Arkham Asylum, as he was looking for answers about The Riddler. During their brief but intense conversation, the first glimpse of the Joker’s full face is shown.
Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, and more have had their own specific looks as the Joker. Barry’s the Joker is no exception. The deleted scene reveals that The Batman’s version of The Joker is even more horrifying, as he is even more disfigured and scarred than The Dark Knight’s version. It appears as if he’s been badly burned. The Joker still has his green hair, but only in patches around his head.
You can watch it here, folks:
The scars around his mouth are a deep red and curve into that signature Joker smile. His laugh is totally unique and echoes all around the Arkham Asylum room.
The deleted scene was revealed after fans cracked a series of riddles on rataalada.com, the website that was shown at the end of the film. As we all know, Barry’s the Joker was briefly seen towards the end of The Batman after the Riddler is imprisoned at Arkham. However, his full face was not shown at the time. Such a waste!
In other news – another notable villain from The Batman, the Penguin, played by hottie Colin Farrell, is set to return to Gotham City in a new HBO Max spin-off, based on his version of the DC character. The project was announced as a straight-to-limited-series order following the blockbuster success last month.
Colin said he was thrilled at the chance to reprise the role. “The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot,” the Irish actor said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I couldn’t be more excited about continuing this exploration of Oz as he rises through the darkened ranks to become The Penguin. Will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem.”
Colin Farrell’s transformation in The Batman is by far the most frightening compared to the other three previous actors’. The character has been played by Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito and Robin Lord Taylor. However, Colin’s prosthetics, which took more than four hours to put on, have made the avian villain look scarier than ever before.
