Among other treatments, this nail salon, located in Mont Kiara, specialises in Russian manicures (also known as a “dry” manicure or a “e-file” manicure) which is a European-based luxury treatment that involves prowess and attention to detail.
Instead of traditional water-soaking techniques, cuticle nippers, and cuticle pushers, this one-of-a-kind technique uses an electronic file, just like the one used for acrylics, to remove excess skin surrounding the nail bed to create a clean-cut finish, ensuring that there is no cuticle overgrowth and that the nail side pads are perfectly polished. While a traditional manicure may take 45 minutes at the salon, the Russian manicure requires at least an hour and a half to ensure that each step is performed safely and meticulously. Despite the fact that there are hundreds of Russian manicure tutorials on YouTube, it is not advisable that you do it on your own, because you could inadvertently damage your nail bed, putting you at risk of infection.
To gain a better understanding of the procedure: The first step is to remove the gel polish with a single type of electric drill head. Then, depending on how overgrown your cuticles are, a sharper drill bit is used to remove extra skin around your nail bed, followed by your cuticles. However, the manicurist will not touch it unless it’s overgrown. The cuticle is then cleaned, and the nail is buffed with a third drill head until it appears shiny and healthy. The final steps are to perfect the nail shape, paint the nail with gel polish using a precise artist brush, and seal it with UV light. Overall, each step takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Here’s a short video showing the process.
Clients adore them for looking so perfect and for the fact that they are extremely long-lasting. While Russian manicures are undeniably beautiful, luxury comes at a price, so be ready to fork out a hefty sum to get this deluxe manicure.
