IKEA has become a beloved Malaysian institution thanks to its trendy furniture, fascinating stores and exquisite Swedish meatballs. Its restaurant has garnered much attention over the years with its mouth-watering choice of food. If you’re going to IKEA, you know it’s not just to shop for furniture – it’s also for the delicacies that taste like no other! IKEA fans, you can back me up on this.
However, for a long time now, plant-based food consumers have been unable to relish IKEA’s dishes. But they can now join the party because IKEA Malaysia has just released an amazing array of plant-based options and honestly, we can’t wait to get our hands on them!

If you’re thinking it is only salads or sandwiches being added to the menu, you’re completely wrong! There are 7 new plant-based options namely, wait for it – plant-based burger, plant-based schnitzel, plant-based fishless fingers, veggieballs tomato pasta, veggieball wrap, scrambled egg croissant with plant-based pieces, and salads.
All items mentioned are available every day, from 11am onwards. Except for the plant-based burger – which is only available until 31st October – all other items will be permanent items on the menu.
The main reason for this new menu roll-out is to be in line with efforts to make healthy and sustainable food more affordable for people. Their plant-based options are affordably priced at between RM4.90 and RM12.90.
Many consumers are switching to a plant-based diet for a healthier life. With the strong demand for plant-based food in Malaysia, Nestlé Malaysia, which is opening its first plant-based factory in Shah Alam, was able to successfully cater to a wide range of affordable products under the Harvest Gourmet banner to its consumers.
So the next time you visit IKEA, be sure to give these delectable plant-based options a try! You’ll be sure to come back for some more furnitu… FOOD!
