We’re sure you’ve asked this question before: “Where are all the hot guys hanging out at these days?”
Off the top of our head you’d probably think of the gym, bars and probably at work because really, that’s all our busy schedule can accommodate these days but you shouldn’t limit yourself to these places only if you’re looking for “The One” otherwise you might end up with just another fling.
One of the most exciting parts in a relationship is the pursuit and you know what they say, he’ll turn up when you lease expect it but that doesn’t mean you should mope around at home hoping Prince Charming will show up at your door looking for some sugar for his coffee because heck, what are the odds that you’ll get an attractive, smart neighbour with a heart of gold?
Admittedly, we can’t guarantee you a guy this year but we can help increase your odds in scoring one because it all boils down to being in the right place at the right time. Here’s a list of places you should include in you hang out list this year which is not just great to meet guys but also for your soul.
1. Sporting events
Men love women who love football. After all who wouldn’t be happy to have their other half appreciate and understand the other love of their lives?
Of course, we don’t encourage you pretending to fancy a sport you have no affinity for but if you’re a fan of sports such as badminton, tennis, marathon running or even paintball then participate in avenues where you’ll meet other fans (or men!) as well. You can attend sporting events or even have drinks at a local pub because after each game, there’s always something interesting to talk about plus you get a good workout.
2. Social gatherings
Not all social get togethers involve noisy pubs or rave so the next time a friend invites you to a little potluck at her place, don’t be shy to say yes! Apart from the opportunity to show off your cooking or baking skills, you’ll also widen your circle of friends. Most couples actually meet through a friend’s friend more often than you know!
3. Political rallies
There’s something very hot about a man who fights for a cause and if you both happen to be on the same team then great, you’ll both have something to talk about and fight for. People who get involved in movements are often well educated, smart and passionate. Find a cause you’re interested in and play an active role, you might just meet a like-minded soul!
4. The Apple store
Be it Machines, MacStudio or iStudy, there’s something about gadgets that draw a man into these Apple stores without thinking not to mention that most men are gadget junkies. You can conveniently slide up to a guy and pop the ice by asking how the gadgets work or his opinion on which apps go best on them. It helps that the environment is conducive and you’ll genuinely look like a lost puppy without trying too hard because, really, it’s his turf!
5. On holiday
Whether you’re stuck at the airport thanks to another flight delay or trying to navigate yourself through a foreign city cluelessly, serendipity will somehow find its place if you’re lucky and whilst the concept of falling in love while travelling can be thrilling, there’s other issues like distance to be dealt with when the both of you return to reality but we’re sure that if its meant to be, you’ll both find ways to make it work out.
6. The bookstore
Kindle-users, this may not be effective for you but if you’re still adamant on sticking to the traditional way of reading then take time out during the weekend to browse your favourite bookstores (try Amcorp Mall for some great and cheap reads).
7. Public transport
We’ve all heard about how Asian women place huge importance in the 5Cs and some even refuse to date men who do not own a car. Superficialities aside, we hope you consider taking public transport because there are some men who choose to take them not because of convenience and because they care for the environment.
Instead of spending hours in the jam with no one but your radio, taking the train or bus will have you meeting interesting people from all walks of life. Even if you don’t meet anyone who catches your eye, you’ll be richer in more ways than one.
8. Art events
Urbanscapes, Arts for Grabs, Flea Markets and Film Festivals, are great events to lounge in the sun, dress up and meet people. Chances are you’ll meet someone with the same interests as you and a man who knows how to appreciate the arts is a keeper even if he has a boring day job.
Of course, love can happen anywhere and if you realize, these places and activities that we’ve highlighted not only widen your social circle but also build you as a person which make you emotionally healthier and happier. We’re all naturally attracted to people are positive and free spirited so be that person and this will in turn make others want you in their lives.
