Celebrities who use their influence to empower others rank high in our books and here’s one woman we want to add to our list: Jessica Alba.
The actress who starred in films such as Fantastic Four, Honey, Little Fockers, Sin City and Into The Blue comes from a small, closeknit family in California. Her marriage to Cash Warren whom she met on the set of Fantastic Four has resulted in two of the most adorable little girls we’ve ever laid eyes upon: Honor, 4 years old and Haven, 3 months old.
What we love about Jessica is how she has maintained her good girl image throughout the years and has continuously been searching for ways to give back to society. She has been involved in charities such as Safer Chemicals Healthy Families, ONE, Habitat for Humanity, Project HOME and more.
She admits that the best role to date is being a mother. “It is the most profound experience I’ve ever had,” she says and is driven to provide her children with the best possible start.
As a mother of young daughters (4-year-old Honor and newborn Haven), Jessica admits she feels an intense responsibility to give her children the best possible start. “When I became a mom, I finally became the person I am, that I always should have been,” she says. “It’s the most satisfying job in the world. But, it can also be overwhelming and confusing. I created The Honest Company to help moms and to give all children a better, safer start.”
Every mother want the best for their children be it the environment they live in as well as their physical and emotional health. We spend hours reading parenting books, stalking advice blogs, surfing the internet and chatting up other mummies in the dairy aisle.
Jessica and her friend Christopher Gavigan (also a father and author), were constantly on the search of products that were safe and eco friendly for their home. They wanted something effective, safe, eco-friendly, visually attractive, convenient and affordable but when they realized that everyday baby basics were made with chemicals like BPA, PVC, VOCs, perfluorooctanoic acid, phthalates, arsenic, and lead, even by leading brands, which were linked to many childhood illnesses.
Here’s what goes into the production of baby diapers, trust us you’d be fearful for your little one from now on:
Jessica was appalled when she found out that natural alternatives to babycare products came with a hefty price tag and sourcing for them was not an easy task to go as most products that claimed to be “green” had to be purchased online from Europe or from stores that she had never heard of before. That was when she realized she had to do something about it. If you can’t find it, you make it.
Jessica and Christopher wanted a brand that was savvy, sustainable, convenient, cheeky while providing excellent service to their customer and thus, The Honest Company was born – affordable eco-friendly baby and household products that actually lived up to their promises.
Their complete range of products include Honest Diapers include the following babycare and household products:

The Honest Company’s products are not only safe and eco-friendly but they’re also affordable with delivery directly to your doorstep. We strive to make our products as affordable as possible. And what’s more convenient than having it shipped right. As parents, Jessica and Christopher hope to nurture their children with values such as kindness and respect by being role models themselves.
Among the activities that The Honest Company has taken up include charitable partnerships (currently we donate diapers through Baby2Baby.org), working with advocates on promoting policy changes that better protect our children and planet, and supporting the efforts of our employees with paid community service days and direct matches of non-profit donations.
Unlike other celebrities who have opted for a fashion or accessories line, we salute Jessica for coming up with an eco-friendly commerce line instead, something that we’ve resonates in Miranda Kerr’s organic line, Kora.
Like Miranda, The Honest Company is a reflection of her beliefs and practices in real life. “While non-toxic diapers and household products aren’t glamorous, creating safe and healthy households for children is what I’m passionate about,” she says in an interview with Salt and Nectar here.
Unfortunately, The Honest Company only ships to the US for now but worldwide domination is in their plans according to Jessica! When that happens, you’ll be the first to know! For more details about The Honest Company, visit www.honest.com or follow on Facebook and Twitter at @Honest.
