To further prove that Ikea is “unboring”, the homeware giant has teamed up with renowned Swedish ad agency Åkestam Holst to create a new interactive ad, which will reveal a discount on baby cribs when peed on by pregnant women.
Yeah, you read that right.
The modified pregnancy test strip is included at the bottom of Ikea’s magazine ad. However, instead of a simple change in colour to indicate a pregnancy, a positive test result reveals a roughly 50% discount on a crib — which initially retails at 995 Swedish krona, or about $121 (RM483).
We’d like to note that the coupon is only valid for members of Ikea’s loyalty program. “You don´t have to hand in any ad with urine on it or anything,” Ikea Sweden spokesman Magnus Jakobsson explained, urging people to: “Simply join IKEA’s Family Club.”
Still, we have so many questions but one thing’s for sure: This idea definitely gives new meaning to the words “baby shower.”
