The world’s biggest Starbucks is opening in China!
According to several news sites, Starbucks is opening the first fully immersive coffee experience in Asia today. The Roastery will be located in Shanghai, taking up a whopping 30,000-square-feet of coffee realness. Like, even the coffee bar stretches up to 88-feet.
Starbucks first debuted the Roastery store format in 2014. The Roasteries showcase single-origin beans that are roasted on-site and prepared with a variety of brewing methods. The Shanghai location will also be serving beans from more than 30 countries, including China’s Yunnan province.
The location is Starbucks’ second Reserve Roastery in the world (Seattle’s got a Starbucks Reserve Roastery in 2014). But the Shanghai Roastery is different because it’s also got a “multi-sensory coffee experience” where you can point your phone at different stuff in the massive space and learn more about it via an AR app from Alibaba.
To date, Starbucks already has more than 600 stores in Shanghai, plus another 2,400 throughout China. However, the new Roastery located at West Nanjing Road’s major shopping spot is perfect for coffee lovers to not just have a cup of coffee, but to fully immerse themselves in the ultimate Starbucks experience – augmented reality and all.
