Malaysian-grown independent fashion company Frankitas turned three by unveiling a stunning new collection of curated and artisanal pieces.
Frankitas uses traditional textile motifs such as Ikat, Batik, Songket, Tenun and Rangrang and Batik. Ever since its inception, Frankitas has bloomed in leaps and bounds due to its deep and unique association with age-old traditional weaving and hand dyeing methods. Materials that go into making Frankitas’ gorgeous range of accessories and home decor are sourced from skilled crafters in remote areas around Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and across Central Asia.
Frankitas is a female-empowered brand and business led by Francisca Turner Shaik (Franki) who takes pride in the fact that 70% of the items are made and tailored locally. For Franki, Frankitas has always been a life-long dream. Crediting her Javanese roots, Malaysian upbringing and travels, Franki had always harboured a strong passion for ethnic, hand-woven fabrics for the heritage and craftsmanship they represent.
Launching her collection with the classic envelope clutch, Titins, the designs have expanded into other designs like the Ava, Mama Sabeena, Maren, Lannie, Jikat, Tas Malam series and many more.
The popular woven Rang Rang Webe bags in chevron motif makes an appearance every now and then and is snapped up almost immediately. Her other best sellers are the Tas Malam clutch bag as well as the Lannie and Maren Clutches – both exuding elegance and originality with a dash of vibrant colors.
Franki is also working on Frankitas Collective, featuring handpicked pieces from selected brands that have very similar design taste, business and values to Frankitas. Selected items from the Frankitas Collective such as Isle and Tribe and Fugeelah will also be featured on the Frankitas website.
The Frankitas Gallery is located in Damansara Heights and is open on appointment basis for a more sensory retail journey. For more on Frankitas, access here.
