History’s been made for the Mandagies!
Known for utilising the lustrous Royal Pahang Tenun in his contemporary and classic designs, faved fashion designer Jovian Mandagie received the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang award that carries the title “Dato'” in Pekan, Pahang by the Sultan of Pahang.
Jovian, who is also the namesake and head of his label, Jovian Mandagie Sdn Bhd, mentioned that he fell in love with the uniqueness of the Royal Pahang Tenun after working on the Penor Prison produced material with Tengku Puan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah in a fashion show in Kuala Lumpur five years ago.
“I am really grateful to be chosen for this recognition (award) at a young age (31)… and after 10 years in fashion industry, I think this is a reward for all of us who are involved in this creative industry,” said Jovian at the ceremony. Jovian also took to Instagram to announce the momentous milestone.
Wife Nina Ismail Sabri also took to Instagram to congratulate Jovian on the award. Apparently everyone was decked in Jovian’s exclusive designs and we also got to know that the fashion powerhouse went straight to work after the awards ceremony! Talk about hard work and perseverance, huh? 💪
Local vocal powerhouse Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, who is now 4 months pregnant, was also awarded the “Dato’ Sri” title yesterday by the Sultan of Pahang. And we’re loving this glowing shot of both her & Nina!
It’s an amazing feeling watching hard work, talent and perseverance getting recognised. Congratulations, everyone!
