If you’ve ever watched Modern Family, you’d agree that Phil Dunphy is one of the best characters on the TV sitcom and his realtor wisdom is, well, simply unreal.
Daddy Dunphy is played by Ty Burrell, and we can’t think of anyone else who would play the role as well as he does. No one can beat his legendary “Phil’s-osophies” and puns, and just because it’s Burrell, everything just is funnier.
Well, news just broke that Friends‘ alum Matt LeBlanc was given the chance to play Phil Dunphy on Modern Family, but turned it down because he thought he wasn’t right for the role.. and what a blessing in disguise that was (for us)!
LeBlanc said, “I remember reading it thinking, this is a really good script … I’m not the guy for this. I’d be doing the project an injustice to take this. I know what I can do, I know what I can’t do.”
He added in the interview with USA Today, “Plus, I’m having too much fun laying on the couch.” Only then did the role go to Ty Burrell, who went on to win two Emmy awards for playing the lovable realtor.
Thank goodness and nope, just a million times NO to Matt LeBlanc!
