Ed Sheeran has quit Twitter, citing overwhelming abuse from trolls. The singer — whose album ÷ (Divide) is the year’s biggest selling recording with 8million copies sold in three months — told the press, “I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it.”
He added, “One comment ruins your day. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. The headf+ck for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”
Only at an @edsheeran concert are people arguing over who is the most ginger, and trying to out-ginger each other… what

..and the list goes on. The headliner admits to last-night nerves, solo with just a guitar and effects pedal in front of the huge crowd, but their vocal support puts fire in his belly.
So what’s the cause? The star revealed that Lady Gaga’s fans were some of those responsible for the abuse. “[They] read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all fucking hate. And it wasn’t anything to do with that at all.”
But Lady Gaga doesn’t want to focus on the hate. She posted a photo of herself and Sheeran on Instagram Tuesday and shared some kind words to her community. The starlet responded, “No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody.”
Just because Ed might be off Twitter doesn’t mean he’s given up all social medias. You can still get your dose of Ed on his Instagram.
