As Game of Thrones enters its seventh season this month, die-hard fans are getting anxious and excited that the series is unfurling once again…and ending very very soon.
As the number of remaining episodes are becoming fewer and fewer, and as both Season Seven and Season Eight will be shorter than normal, there seems to be some good news for anyone doing a countdown of remaining hours they have left with Game of Thrones.
Deadline reports that while the number of episodes have shrunk with 7 slated for Season Seven and just six for the final Season 8, the length of each episode will likely move toward a feature range of 80-plus minutes. The news came out of the first Game of Thrones fan convention, Con of Thrones, which took place in in Nashville this weekend.
Sound designer Paula Fairfield said that Season 7 episodes will be their customary hour-long duration, but the finale of Season 7 clocks in at 82 minutes. In Season 8, the episodes could be in the 80-plus-minute range of a feature film, as series like Sherlock and Black Mirror have done.
So basically we’re looking at a Game of Thrones movie every Sunday night for 6 weeks straight. Our schedules are all cleared out for some major couch potato business.
