This morning, we woke up to a flurry of upcoming Disney movies’ release dates and it feels like the skies just got a little brighter. But not really.
Though we’ll finally know when to expect highly-anticipated movies like Frozen 2, and Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King, the wait for each movie isn’t exactly the shortest.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Frozen 2 will make its way into theaters on 27 Nov 2019. The sequel is expected to reunite the characters from the original but that’s about all we know of the frosty sequel.
A tweet by director Jon Favreau confirmed suspicions that The Lion King will hit theaters on 19 July 2019. It’s set to star Donald Glover as Simba, with James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and Beyoncé (*screams*) reportedly considering voicing Nala.

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner are also in talks to voice Timon and Pumba. Two other major movies to get release dates are the new Indiana Jones movie, which is now set for July 2020, and Star Wars: Episode IX, which will be released on 24 May 2019. Both movies will be released via Lucasfilms.
Disney also updated a few releases on their calendar including Wreck-it Ralph‘s sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet which is set to release on 21 Nov 2018, Gigantic on 25 Nov 2020 and Magic Camp, a comedy about rookie magicians, comes out 6 April 2018.
And now, the excruciatingly long wait begins.
