A GPS-enabled watch is a paramount tool to be added into every runner’s arsenal, hence Garmin further elevates its expertise in wearable technology with its lineup of fitness and outdoor GPS watches – the fēnix® 5 series, a step up from its predecessor fēnix® 3 – that automatically uploads to Garmin Connect and is compatible with the Face It app.
Comprising five models – fēnix® 5, fēnix® 5 Sapphire, fēnix® 5S Sapphire and fēnix® 5X, the stainless steel models showcase stainless steel bezels, buttons and rear cases that extend a stylish flair for any occasion. Adding to its aesthetic are the interchangeable QuickFit™ watch bands that are sold separately.
While the sleek fēnix® 5S leans more compact at 42mm in diameter with a mineral glass lens and fēnix®5S Sapphire boasts a scratch-resistant sapphire lens, the beefiest of them all is the fēnix® 5X measuring at 51mm in diameter that comes with preloaded topographic mapping, roundable cycling maps, and advanced navigation options like Round Trip Run.
Amongst the features on the fēnix® 5 lineup include high-resolution, full-colour Garmin Chroma Display™ with LED backlighting, Garmin Elevate™ wrist heart rate technology, a full multi-sport toolset, the VO2 max estimator for oxygen, the ability to pair with Garmin’s HRM-Run™ heart rate chest strap and its advanced GPS and GLONASS satellite reception.
Besides being water rated to 100 meters, the fēnix® 5 lineup also trumps in battery longevity. The fēnix® 5 can get up to two weeks of battery life on smartwatch mode or 24 hours on GPS mode, whereas the fēnix® 5X possesses up to 12 days of battery life in smartwatch mode or 9 days in GPS mode.
The fēnix® 5 and fēnix® 5S retails at RM2,899 whereas the fēnix® 5 Sapphire and 5S Sapphire is priced at RM3,149. On the other hand, the fēnix® 5X will set you back RM3,399. All are now available at the Taman Maluri Garmin headquarters or concept stores throughout Malaysia.
