You know this one, the vampiric debate of the decade. No, we’re not talking about Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart).
“The Vampire Diaires” have been on air now for three whole seasons and we’ve been following (read: stalking) the TV series every step of the way. If you’re anything like us, you must’ve also seen the back and forth onscreen double-dating plus tug of war between Stefan, Damon, and Elena.
Ah. We bet half of you have been wishing for one pair to end up as a couple in some way or another.
And we think that some of you must’ve wished pretty hard because, after some continuous dodging of romance rumours, 32-year-old Ian Somerhalder (Damon) and 22-year-old Nina Dobrev (Elena) have finally confirmed that they are indeed dating!
Well, at least we know that their reps confirmed it. They had to!
It might’ve been easy to avoid speculations even after attending the “MuchMusic Video Awards” together in June (read: work event, work event), but not so much when they were spotted holding hands at Coachella 2011.
Or when they looked as cozy as two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together while taking a stroll in Paris. Hmm. Paris makes people fall in love, you think?
In a public declaration his love for Nina, Ian said, “She truly enjoys life. Her desire to experience and appreciate everything around her, and chuckle and enjoy it, is great!”.
Nina, on the other hand, also has her say about her new boyfriend. When asked to divulge, she practically gushed, “Ian always has a positive outlook and positive energy, and he’s always happy. He is a glass-half-full kind of guy, not half-empty.”
We know hearts are breaking everywhere (sorry, Ian Somerhalder fans!) but we wouldn’t have had this any other way. So, yay! May these two gorgeous stars of “The Vampire Diaries” be together for eternity! Ahem. Vampire. Ahem.
