This bizarre trend in Japan takes you right back to your mother’s womb, and yes, it’s just as odd as it sounds.
Otonamaki, which translates to “adult wrapping”, is a form of therapy used by new mothers to relieve the post-delivery stress.
How it works is that adults are wrapped from head to toe in a white fabric before being rocked back and forth. It is also believed to be able to cure post-labour aches and pains.

The process, which takes about 20 minutes per session, replicates the way children are swaddled at birth, and was devised by a Kyoto midwife.
We’re skeptical, but you know what they say – don’t knock it off until you try it. Perhaps the powers of healing from being swaddled like a newborn is real..
