Under the Selangor Brain Bank programme, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali announced on his Facebook page that the Selangor government will be offering scholarships for selected residents to take up doctorate courses at popular universities abroad.
Applicants will have to get their research proposals accepted by their universities of choice, and that proposal has to play a part in contributing toward Selangor’s development. Several fields of research listed include governance, housing, education, culture, manufacturing and Islamic affairs, amongst others.
The universities chosen must be listed amongst the top 50 universities in the respective fields of study, judging by the Ranking by Subject in the 2015 Times Higher Education or the QS World University Ranking. With that said, all applicants must not be over the age of 40 at the time of beginning their courses.
The scholarship is open for civil servants in Selangor, as well as the public who must have served either in the Selangor civil service, or in private firms for at least five years.
Selected applicants will be called in for an interview, and the closing date for application is 31 January 2017. Forms can be downloaded here.
All the best, everyone! 😉
