Are you frustrated with the stubborn cottage-cheese skin on your hips and thighs that wouldn’t go away no matter how much you exercise? Well, stop fretting about it and chill, we all have it at some point, even the supermodels do. It just comes with the booty.
Cellulite is the term used to describe dimpled, lumpy textured fat on the body found on the outermost layer of skin (epidermis) and it’s definitely hard to love; so much so that we resort to hiding our thighs and arms to avoid it being in public display.
All that’s about to change though as Canadian body activist and vlogger Kenzie Brenna is inviting women from around the world to do the complete opposite – embrace cellulite.
She fuelled an Instagram trend called #CelluliteSaturday whereby she shares photos of her cellulite to inspire women everywhere to also share their cellulite snaps every weekend in an effort to normalise the standard body image portrayed by mass media.
She uses Instagram to discuss her journey to a healthier relationship with her body, and even sharing her experience of having body dysmorphia, a condition whereby the sufferer becomes obsessed with thinking about his or her flaws.
She tried every available remedy for cellulite; from salt baths, creams, to using a dry brush before a shower, foam rolling her cellulite before and after workouts, and even wrapping her body in coconut oil and coffee grinds. Unfortunately, none of those ever worked, which then lead her to embrace it instead.
Brenna commented: “Not many girls are embracing their cellulite, and it’s something very understandable. Coming from a girl who goes to the gym 5 days per week and eats a balanced diet, I still have cellulite and although it’s very uncomfortable, it’s here anyway and I’m going to try my best to accept it.”
Kudos to you! 😀
Would you post your #CelluliteSaturday snap this weekend? 😉
