The classic bun hairstyle, or the top knot, is quick, easy to do, gets the hair out of the way, and most importantly, it looks good. But, a former dancer Diva Hollands is warning others of the danger of wearing your hair too tightly.
After years of wearing her hair in a tight bun, she started losing hair at the age of 13 and experienced a horrible receding hairline that she later got surgery to fix.
Traction alopecia is the term used for losing hair due to constant, persistent pulling of the roots and the first signs are often subtle. As you would expect, it gets worse in due time.
Holland opted for a follicular unit transplant, which involved taking pieces of skin with hair from the back of her scalp and relocating the skin to places where hair loss was evident.
Holland also wants people to know that they shouldn’t feel ashamed about losing hair as it can be embarrassing to some.

So ladies, the next time you’re wearing a bun, think about how long you’re wearing it for, and how tight your bun is..
