Men are from Mars…women are from Venus? Scientists believe that women are actually more suitable for life on Mars.
Stephen Petranek, an award-winning journalist and author said that it makes sense to rely on women to run Mars. The long, tedious journey to Mars could take up to 8 months. Women, on average, consume lesser oxygen, food, and water, and they also weigh much less than men, which makes them the ideal candidates for the spaceship.
Other studies have shown that women are better at handling pressures of a long trip and going through the whole process of starting a colony.
NASA scientist Geoffrey Landis agrees on this, as he’s been calling for an all-female journey to Mars since the year 2000.
“Numerous sociological studies have shown that women, in general, are more cooperative, and less given to hierarchical social structures—all properties which may very well be highly desirable on a long-duration space mission,” Landis said.
