Research Reveals Anti-Bacterial Soap Isn’t Any More Effective Than Regular Soap

The U.S. government just banned 19 chemicals used in common anti-bacterial soap after manufacturers failed to attest that they are safe while effectively banishing germs.

Although the ban wouldn’t affect us much, it’s still crucial to be in the know of these said chemicals due to the fact that they do more harm than good long-term.

The U.S. FDA has announced that there is no scientific evidence that proves anti-bacterial soap is better than plain ol’ soap, and this is shocking, even for us.

Research shows that two of the chemicals, triclosan and tricocarban, can interfere with hormone levels and encourage the growth of drug-resistant bacteria. Some other chemicals are still being evaluated.

Like most of you, we’ve been told all our lives that anti-bacterial soap is the be-all-end-all of soaps. It isn’t that big of a deal, but it kind of is, don’t you think?
