To encourage travel for families with young children, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is unveiling a new initiative, SingaporeJunior, which is a comprehensive platform aimed at travellers looking for a getaway with their children.
In Asia Pacific, an estimated 44 million people travel on family vacations and spend US$29 billion every year. Fundamental source markets with high volumes under the family segment amongst the total leisure outbound travellers include India, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. In 2015, Singapore welcomed more than 90,000 children below the age of 15.
One of the SingaporeJunior initiatives include the release of a 7-episode web series beginning 19 August 2016 at 6pm. Hosted by two bubbly children Arissa Afrina, 8 and Amelia Lee, 9, the series will highlight the excitement of travelling in Singapore from the children’s perspective. The information will range from fun-filled activities, packing tips, educational attractions.
Travel guides and articles will also be shared by SingaporeJunior on STB’s Facebook page, introducing attractions that will delight and inspire both children and parents alike. In order to add value to family travels to Singapore, STB has also partnered with several entities to offer irresistible deals and packages.
Some of Singapore’s most appealing family destinations which will be at the Singapore Pavilion during the upcoming MATTA Fair from 2 to 4 September at PWTC include the Singapore Zoo, Sentosa Island, Gardens by the Bay, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, River Safari and more.
Additionally, STB is piloting a SingaporeJunior pre-school programme with 50 pre-schools in Klang Valley in East Malaysia, which showcases learning experiences children can discover when travelling to Singapore. These pre-schoolers will be learning about animals from the Singapore Zoo and have an up-close experience with the River Safari’s new icon, Canola the manatee.
