OMG!
A non-Muslim watch retailer has been summoned over two “sexy” posters, an “offence” he has seemingly committed more than 10 times since the 1990s. One of the posters in question showcases actress Aishwarya Rai.
Owner Lee Kum Chuan of Swee Cheong Watch & Pen Co said that he was ordered to pay fines even before he began operating the shop in Aeon since April. He runs two more outlets at KB Mall and Tesco Kota Baru.
His fine totalled to RM2,000 but was later reduced to RM400. He also had to pay the sum before obtaining a new permit. He’s paid several hundred ringgit in fines for roughly 10 times.
On top of that, he was ordered to take down the posters, which are supplied by watch manufacturers, as the outfits were deemed to sexy by the Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB).
According to MPKB’s terms of business permits, owners aren’t allowed to display sexy photographs at their stores.
Kelantan MCA secretary Datuk Lua Choon Hann condemned the incident, adding that it attested that PAS was just expressing it insincerely when it said that hudud laws wouldn’t affect non-Muslims.
