Established in 2014, Blue Elephant is an exclusively hidden Hollywood-themed lounge and bar that combines a fun and glitzy ambience situated at Plaza Damansara. Though, actually locating it is no easy feat..
Along Plaza Damansara’s shop-houses, look for a staircase lined with movie posters and gleaming blue lights. There’s no signboard, but when you see “SCSG Corporate Service” being advertised, you’re at the right spot. Walk up a flight of stairs and you’ll see the entrance, concealed by a monochrome galleria of iconic Hollywood stars and a sliding bookcase.
This stylish watering hole is decked out with custom-made trunk tables, director chairs, a massive Marilyn Monroe poster and an Oscar statue, ornamented with LED movie poster light boxes. The aroma of homemade popcorn perfumed the air as we examined the extensive bar where imported single malt whiskies and other liquors were displayed.
Aside from its interior, the original cocktails only exclusive to Blue Elephant are indeed worth sampling. There’s the namesake Blue Elephant, as well as the popcorn and caramel-infused Showtime and the Asian inspired Firewall with a kick of chilli. You won’t get these cocktails anywhere else.
Also perfect for private and corporate events, Blue Elephant is a nonchalant hangout spot to be for a relaxed ambience and cool music. For just RM4, you could purchase notably yummy caramel popcorn to munch on, in true spirit of movie-watching. For light bites and other foods, orders can be placed through Sri Lankan restaurant A Li Yaa or Neroteca.
The mixologist serving up the namesake Blue Elephant (RM30), a fruity and refreshing cocktail comprising vodka, passionfruit syrup, apple juice, grapefruit juice, and chardonnay wine.
Made with caramel vodka with frangelico and topped with Blue Elephant’s homemade popcorn, Showtime (RM30) is one of our favourites. The fragrant taste of caramel really comes through in this sweet, boozy goodness.
Firewall (RM30) is a combination of vodka, passionfruit puree, kaffir lime leaves, chilli and lime juice. Aside from the little heat, there was a slight tang to it that we enjoyed.
Sweet plus savoury light bites from A Li Yaa.
A little sampler from Neroteca which we devoured alongside the cocktails.
