A total of 1,019 summonses were issued to motorists who abused the emergency lane from Perlis to Selangor, since June 29 when Ops Selamat IX began.
This is a drastic drop compared to recent years as more than 6,000 summonses were issued in 2014 to those who misused the emergency lane. In 2015, that number dropped to 4,000.
The drop in numbers can be attributed to increased awareness by motorists, but there are still those who are ignorant.
