A simple gesture of support, who would have thought that it would land Lady Gaga in hot water?
Lady Gaga met with Dalai Lama when he was at the U.S Conference of Mayors in Indiana. The two seized that opportunity to discuss issues related to human rights, meditation and kindness. She then went on to post a photo of herself with the Tibetan spiritual leader on social media.
The photo sparked a huge outrage from China, who has long had a very sour relationship with Dalai Lama. Offended by the photo, the Chinese Communist Party has called for the ban of the singer from the country, including her online music, CDs and posters.
Other musicians that have been banned by China for being affiliated to Dalai Lama are Selena Gomez, Bjork, and Maroon 5.
