In March this year, Rayani Air caused a huge uproar for issuing a handwritten boarding pass to some of its passengers, and the airline was consequently suspended for three months due to ridiculously poor services as well as the strike by some of its pilots.
Well, the final nail in the coffin has been struck for Rayani Air as it was just forced to suspend its services due to financial problems. Rayani Air will no longer operate as a commercial airline beginning today.
The syariah-compliant carrier was found to have breached the conditions of its air service license (ASL), and lacked the financial and management capacity to continue operating.
Rayani Air was asked by the Malaysian Aviation Commission to provide a representation in writing to defend the airline to continue operations, but the commission decided to revoke the ASL as the response wasn’t up to their satisfaction.
Rayani Air is still liable to refund its customers. Just lodge a complaint with the company and seek the payment. If that proves futile, you may file a civil suit for the refund. Alternatively, consumers may lodge a formal complaint with the Malaysian Aviation Commission.
