Double whammy much?
A 20-year-old law student was waiting for a taxi at Jalan Tun Sambanthan on Friday when two men on a motorcycle approached her and tried to snatch her handbag, causing her to fall to the ground and hit her head on the cement pavement.
She suffered injuries to the back of her head, bruises on her hands and legs and broken teeth.
Apparently, a security guard of a church simply watched the student being attacked, and stopped passers-by who wanted to help her, mentioning that they will be “implicated in the case if they helped her”. It turns out that the guard was an Indian national whose visa had expired last year.
If that wasn’t bad enough, another motorcyclist approached her when she was still lying on the ground and grabbed her mobile phone. A closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) recording from the church building managed to capture the incident.
A passer-by, who saw the incident, shouted for help and the motorist left the scene.
The victim had lodged a police report and was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for treatment. We really hope the poor girl’s okay!
