To usher in the summer, the Macao Arts Festival makes its return for its 27th edition. It is a culmination of artistic and cultural events bringing together theatre, dance, music, circus, multimedia and visual arts across various locations in Macau.
Themed around the basis of time, the 27th Macao Arts Festival will follow the slogan “Reshape Your Imagination. Experience the Spirit of the Times” and will usher lovers of art into prevailing over the restrictions of space and time, allowing them to appreciate the classics that are refined through history.
This year, the fascinating lineup features 27 programmes divided into seven categories: Thematic Highlights, Groundbreakers, Cross-Disciplinary Creations, Family Entertainment, Quintessence of Tradition, Concerts and Exhibitions. Art lovers can then encounter the soul of culture and arts alongside a taste of beauty and sorrow in the passage of time.
Some of the highlights for the 27th Macao Arts Festival is the romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the Shakespeare Theatre Company and The Legend of the Purple Hairpin by Chu Chan Wa. This year marks the 400th anniversary since the death of literary giant William Shakespeare and Ming Dynasty’s famed Chinese playwright Tang Xianzu, and these plays will celebrate their esteemed work.
