Know of that food court along Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar where there’s a car park underneath it? Well, it’s about to get a huge makeover! Eng Lian Enterprise Sdn Bhd, the company that manages the building, has gotten permission to build a cinema and a restaurant at the food court, downsizing it to about 30 stalls. The building currently has 72 stalls and two basement parking floors.
The current tenants were served a three-month notice period to move out by April 30 and the development order was issued in September last year. Don’t worry, the basement car park will remain open during construction and the public can continue accessing the car park.
The Bangsar Selera complex was very popular in the 1980s and 1990s. It was formerly known as the Jolly Green Giant. Over the years, there was no proper maintenance and it’s become very run down. It’s also very dirty and the place often attracts strays.
Additionally, stall vendors at the night market have raised concerns that they may be affected by the upgrading works. Soon, they will be discussing with DBKL for updates.
