Josh Sundquist is a motivational speaker from the U.S. who lost his leg to cancer at the age of 9 who spreads absolute positivity to everyone. Recently, he was in Malaysia to speak at a Reach Out conference about how having only one leg didn’t bring him down. However, his time in Malaysia wasn’t quite the sweetest..
Shortly after he returned home, he released a video speaking about enjoying his time with some buddies at Zouk KL and, things suddenly turned bittersweet as his crutches were snatched away by some security personnel.
When he got onto a podium, he was rudely grabbed by one of the bouncers while another pulled away his crutches, leaving him immobile. As he recalls this story, he’s left in tears, saying how these experiences still upset him even though he tries to be strong at all times.
Many netizens have demanded an apology from Zouk KL regarding the incident. Having said that, it is absolutely normal for security personnel to be rude and aggressive towards party goers as we all know that alcohol makes people do crazy things.
Also, most of the time, only females are allowed to dance on the podiums.
Whatever it is, we’re truly sorry for what happened, Josh. 🙁

Following the video release and how it’s gotten viral on social media, Zouk KL has released an official statement regarding the incident. It said that CCTV footage showed otherwise, and that Sundquist was ushered down from the podium by security personnel who were supporting him by grabbing onto his arms as he appeared unsteady.
As we’ve mentioned before, the podiums are female-only zones, hence why Sundquist was requested to step down from it. Additionally, Zouk KL also highlighted that the club does not discriminate against people with disabilities and that many of its patrons are wheelchair bound or are on crutches.
Finally, Zouk KL said in the statement that all reporters are welcome to go take a look at the CCTV footage for themselves. Take a look at the FULL statement here:
