It’s hard to keep up with a proper beauty regimen during the weekdays especially if you’re always running late in the mornings or getting home late. How many of us are guilty of commiting the offence of starting and ending their skincare routines with toner, and only toner? I know I have. Whilst this could only mean bad news for our skin, thankfully there’s the weekend where we catch up on our beauty rituals. Here are some things you should do:
Hair masks
Waiting in between conditioners and hair masks to work its magic can be tiring when all you can think off is the bed after a late night out. If you frequently curl or flat iron your hair, take some time out during the weekend to soak your hair in a good hair mask to return some moisture and glow into your locks. If you need to run some chores around the house at the same time, bun your treated hair into a bun and put on a shower cap so that you can do some cleaning or catch up on your favourite show. Don’t forget to wash off within the stipulated period and say hello to gorgeous healthy hair again!
De-fuzz yourself!
Get rid of facial or unwanted hair from your pits to eyebrows to your leg hair. Get ready your tools and creams by Friday so that you don’t waste time hunting for them. You gotta maximize your weekend after all! If you plan to get it done at your local waxing salon, make sure to make an appointment because just like you, every other woman will take advantage of the weekend to head over to salons and spas.
Moisturize your skin
If you don’t have time to go through the step by step skincare routine, use a face mask to instantly replenish your skin. Take a hot shower to open up your pores prior to your using the mask to allow the product absorb into your skin with ease. You can opt to use clay masks or sheet masks (they’re less messy!) to tackle any skin problems you may have from acne-prone to dry skin. Don’t forget to use moisturizer after that to lock in all that essence! If you have time, make your own natural mask using ingredients such as yogurt, oatmeal, honey, tomatoes or avocado.
Exfoliate and scrub
After cleansing, give your skin a good scrub or use peeling gels if your skin is sensitive to rid of old skin revealing new baby soft skin underneath! Exfoliating will also help your serums and moisturizers absorb better making them more effective.
Trim those talons
By that we mean your nails and while you’re at it, you might want to remove your old nail polish and give it a new a new coat of paint to kick away those Monday blues. Giving yourself a manicure or pedicure is the best way to destress and reward yourself. Remember to remove thos cuticles, slap on a base coat, paint on the polish and finally finish it off with a top coat for that extra shine.
We can’t help but envy women who always seem to look top to toe perfect but what we don’t see are the many hours spent every week doing facials, layering skincare products and pruning their brows. Weekend beauty routines not only repair the daily damages inflicted onto our skin and hair but also makes us feel better about ourselves in the long run.
