We all took a stab to the heart when the Express Rail Link (ERL) ticket fare was raised from RM35 to RM55 beginning January 1 this year. Lo and behold, a new one-way direct airport taxi service may just be our saviour.
With flat-rate trips beginning RM18 per person, this service called airport2u is an app that allows you to book trips to KLIA or KLIA 2 from a set place. The ride can also be shared with two other passengers in the same cab.
airport2u’s co-creator Apriman Darlis said, “The concept is just like an airline. You buy a ticket, pay, go to a pick-up point and go.”
Riders would have to choose a pick-up point and a departure time at least 7 days in advance for a booking. They would then receive an email from airport2u with the payment details and a specific taxi would be assigned to them.
As of now, the app has 27 pick-up points, mostly at shopping malls across the Klang Valley with different prices.
There is one downside to this service though – Ride-sharing may come into play and you may be in the car with three other potential strangers. The most of us wouldn’t mind, but some people may.
You can check out airport2u.com or download the app from the Google Play Store. 😀
