Alcohol tax on beer and stout is expected to increase by at least 10% this week, and the Finance Ministry will be announcing the revised rate sometime tomorrow. The last revision was made at least 10 years ago.
An alcohol supplier mentioned that the alcohol tax is now at 15%, but can go up by another 10%. Beer and stout manufacturers are now planning to raise their prices following the revised rate.
Malaysia currently has the third highest tax on alcohol globally.
Not only is roti canai more expensive, beer and stout soon would be pricier too. 🙁
