Calm down, people!
Six cars were damaged from a fire at a car park near the Taman Jaya LRT station just a while ago, and there were rumours circulating around on social media and Whatsapp groups claiming that it was caused by a bomb.
Thankfully, it wasn’t a bomb, but it was indeed an act of arson. Unlike the claims, there was also no explosion, mentioned Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din.
The fire broke out at 12.45pm, and besides cars, the flames also completely destroyed a walkway canopy, traffic light and billboard signage.
The case is being investigated and no one was hurt in the incident.
[UPDATE] 21 December 2015, 10.30pm
The fire that damaged six cars at a carpark near the Taman Jaya LRT station today was caused by a molotov cocktail, and it certainly wasn’t a bomb.
It was an act of revenge by a man who was targeting his ex-wife and her boyfriend. The couple were about to leave the carpark when the man, in a Yamaha Ego, approached the car and threw the weapon into the couple’s vehicle, which is a Proton Wira.
The couple exited immediately before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. They tried to chase down the man, but while doing so, the fire had spread and also damaged other cars. The boyfriend suffered a minor injury on his left arm, and the authorities are looking for the suspect’s slippers and helmet which he had left at the scene.
So, now we know…
