Now, Malaysian foodies will no longer need to fly all the way to Hong Kong to enjoy wonton noodle recipe by the famous Mak Woon-Chee, who was famously known as Guangzhou’s King of Wonton Noodle. The descendants and third generation of Mr. Mak will be opening their first outlet at 1 Utama Shopping Centre in January 2016 under a new brand – Mak’s Chee.

Originating from a street-side eatery in Guangzhou before the World War II, Mr. Mak then moved to Hong Kong and his son carried on the recipe by starting his food stall in 1968. In 1984, his son retired, and shortly after, his son-in-law reincarnated the business on Wellington Street, Hong Kong, which later received a Michelin’s Bib-Gourmand title.

From there on, the Mak’s brand flourished in Hong Kong and a long list of famous personalities have all tasted the wonton noodles. Staying true to the classic 100 years old recipe, Mak’s Chee restaurant in Malaysia will be managed under the guidance of the first grandchild in-law of the Guangzhou’s King of Wonton Noodle, Mak Woon-Chee.

Mak’s Chee restaurant will offer a tantalising menu focused on the signature Mak’s Chee wonton noodle, gold fish-shaped wonton, special herb blended dumplings (sui kau), braised beef brisket, shrimp roe and savoury rich broth in a classic petite bowl, ensuring the special noodle taste and texture remains al dente and springy.

Be rest assured as Mak’s Chee will maintain all the traditional food preparation procedures, cooking methods and tools used to reinforce the brand’s existence and quality of food.
