Previously situated at Desa Park City for 6 years before being moved to Verve Shops at Mont Kiara, La Casa is one of those great power players in the F&B industry that’s been highly successful. As its name would suggest, La Casa is all about making you feel at home.
Unlike many other restaurants, La Casa prides itself in producing good quality home-cooked food that’s prepared from scratch without preservatives or artificial flavourings, so everything that’s being served is freshly-made and well-thought out. A short chat with the founder of the restaurant, May, also made us recognise that La Casa is truly a class above the rest.
La Casa specialises in pork-free Western and Asian cuisine, as well as a range of pastries and other sweet desserts, alongside artisan coffee that’s handcrafted by the baristas there. Even though the restaurant features an extensive menu with a huge variety of items to choose from, no compromise is given when it comes to food prep and execution.
The pastries, cakes, desserts and bread are all made at the La Casa’s private bakery, and some of the menu items like smoked meat, sausages, jams, ice cream, and many others, are all prepared in-house. May affirms us that the restaurant tries to cut down on the outsourcing of food items as much as possible, so that customers can enjoy the best La Casa has to offer.
If you’ve got any special requests, or dietary preferences, the chefs at La Casa are flexible and will be able to tweak the food to suit your tastebuds. The creative chefs are also constantly experimenting with different ingredients to bring customers unique specials that are switched out every other day, for an even better dining experience.
Other than breakfast, lunch and dinner, La Casa also offers afternoon tea with a three-tier stand selection of delectable pastries, cakes and other enjoyable bites. For Christmas this year, the restaurant will be serving up Smoked Turkey Breast, which is of course, prepared in house as well.
Here are some of the menu items we’ve tried:
One Pan Breakfast (RM32) – Consisting of sausage, turkey bacon, sauteed mushrooms, roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, hash brown, baked beans, sunny side up, wild rocket and toast, this breakfast pan is definitely one of the greater ones we’ve tried.
We loved the myriad of colours presented on the pan, and the dish was lovely. The highlights of the pan were the savoury homemade sausage, homemade marmalade that’s tuned to the perfect sweetness, and the turkey bacon which was a refreshing alternative to beef.
Berries Waffle (RM20) + Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream (RM5) – We thoroughly enjoyed this waffle as it was light yet substantial and crunchy on the outside. The toasted almond flakes and caramelised walnut added a nice crunch, and the best part of it all was the vanilla ice cream, which was abundant in specks of authentic vanilla beans.
May told us that the batter for the waffle is prepared at the restaurant’s private bakery to ensure that the quality is consistent and up to par, then baked in the oven at the restaurant before being served.
Primavera Pasta With Prawn (RM30) – Albeit its simplicity, the flavours in this dish were anything but. The pan-fried prawns were jumbo-sized, and we adored the variety of vegetables included in the dish.
Everything is nicely coated in a smooth, garlicky sauce concocted with olive oil and other ingredients. The pasta portion is big, so we would suggest sharing this dish between two people if you’re a small eater.
Latte (RM11) – To finish off our meal, we had a cup of handcrafted latte that was fragrant and robust.
We’d say that La Casa is an all-rounder cafe and restaurant as it doesn’t just place priority on only coffee or savoury foods, for instance. The friendly team at the restaurant really spotlights every single item on its menu, and we’re not just saying that lightly. Visit the restaurant and try different items for yourselves, then let us know what you think! 🙂
