Those living in the centre of Klang Valley can finally say that they have an IKEA store nearby. It’s wonderful news, and this brand spanking new store is even bigger than the one located at Damansara Perdana. Themed as ‘Malaysia’s Biggest Housewarming Party’, the grand opening of IKEA Cheras yesterday was truly an eventful celebration.
Spanning across 42,000 square-metres of shopping space, IKEA Cheras is only a 5-minute drive from the city centre and what was once an unfrequented part of the city has now become a bustling neighbourhood. Come 2017, IKEA Cheras will also be accessible via MRT as the Cochrane MRT station is connected to the store, and adjacent shopping mall, MyTown.
For IKEA Cheras’ Housewarming Party, Malaysians started to congregate outside as early as 6am in the morning to gain access into the new store and to redeem special prizes for the Get Cheras to IKEA Cheras – Invitation Challenge on IKEA Malaysia’s Facebook page.
Reigning as the largest store in Malaysia, IKEA Cheras features 56 showrooms and offers more than 8,500 products that correlate well with Malaysians, as well as their lifestyles. The IKEA store also houses a whopping 780-seat restaurant and over 1,700 parking bays for better convenience.
For the Housewarming Party, IKEA Cheras had lined up an array of exciting activities for the whole family, including special appearance by the twerking Panda (watch the video below!), face painting, clown performances, balloon giveaways and many more. IKEA Cheras also offered fantastic one-day-only opening deals that were not to be missed.
Undoubtedly, IKEA easily knocks out all of its competition. Where else would we find well-designed, functional and affordable home furnishings here?! IKEA’s new addition in Cheras is indeed a dream come true for many, many Malaysians, transforming Cheras into a vibrant retail destination.
IKEA Cheras will be open from 9.30am – 10.00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 9.30pm – 11.00pm (Friday – Sunday, eve and on public holidays).
