[REVIEW] Satiate Your Gluttonous Appetite With Hilton’s British SuperBrunch

A feel-good brunch is always necessary, especially during lazy weekends. It’s also absolutely justifiable even if you leisurely stuff yourself silly from 11am all the way until midday.

Combining the goodness of brunch and the lavishness of a mouth-watering buffet spread, Hilton Kuala Lumpur hosted SuperBrunch – a bountiful buffet spread featuring the best of hearty British cuisine that spans over 1,000 sqm at Vasco’s, which is Hilton KL’s lobby-level all-day dining restaurant.

I really wasn’t expecting much, but the SuperBrunch spread was on another level. Headlining a wide variety of British classics, the spread also included other international cuisine as well as a wide array of local Chinese, Indian and Malay favourites.

Accompanied by the charming legato sounds of bagpipes, I had multiple helpings of succulent fresh oysters that were shucked live to start off my feast. Served with Yorkshire pudding, the grilled wagyu beef leg that was specially flown in was another highlight of SuperBrunch.

sb8

A British classic would most definitely encompass Fish and Chips, which was served in little paper cones at SuperBrunch. Alongside that, the tender lamb and beef stews were a treat eaten with the freshly baked bread.

sb3

For seafood lovers, getting our hands dirty for the broiled crab, prawns and crawfish was definitely worth the hassle. The fresh seafood was juicy, sweet and delightful.

At the grilled meat section, there were meat skewers, corn on the cob, chicken wings, oyster gratin, English sausages, prawns, mini burgers and more. I sampled a generous amount of different kinds of sausages and enjoyed the grilled prawns which were done just right.

sb4

Amongst all the Japanese fare that was available at SuperBrunch, I enjoyed the fresh sashimi the most. Aside from that, there was also hot udon, different kinds of maki (sushi rolls), Japanese salad, ebi and vegetable tempura, and more.

sb9

For those who had to have their carbs, there was a good selection of pasta dishes prepared fresh upon order and rice to go with different dishes available. I really liked the briyani rice and the different meat curries available.

sb7

Aside from some Chinese-style dishes, noodle dishes and dim sum, there were also peking duck rolls which were prepared fresh by the chef and made upon order.

sb11

Served with crackers and grapes, I was also impressed with the array of multiple cheeses available and savoured them slowly.

sb14

When it came to desserts, SuperBrunch really blew my socks off. Aside from the fresh crumpets available, the dessert bar was a child’s wonderland. There were jars and jars of sweet treats like candy, gummy, jelly beans and lollies, as well as fruit skewers and marshmallows to be dipped under the running chocolate fountain.

sb13

Even though the ice cream and condiment options weren’t very memorable, the fruit platters, delectable cakes and indulgent tarts were really good. I also sampled the scones, which were served with clotted cream and homemade jam.

sb15

At the SuperBrunch buffet, there was a tea counter that featured various flavours of Twinings tea. Unfortunately though, the tea selection wasn’t included in the buffet. To seal the deal, I ordered regular tea from the hospitable waitress who stood by my table and refilled my glass of water continuously.

Super Brunch Hilton KL

Needless to say, SuperBrunch is by far one of the best buffet spreads I’ve ever had. It’s worth paying for, it really is.

Hilton KL’s British SuperBrunch was located at Vasco’s (Lobby Level) from 12.30pm to 3.30pm on 25 October 2015 and it’s priced at RM199 nett per person. We don’t know if Hilton Kuala Lumpur will host SuperBrunch once again, but if the hotel ever does, we’ll definitely keep you in the loop.
