It’s hard to avoid the gloom these days what with the rain everywhere thanks to the annual year end monsoon. While it’s hard to not feel depressed with the downside it bring (ie: traffic jams, your dressing shouldn’t reflect it. Instead, try to bring some color and practicality
RAIN RUINS
Avoid wearing leather or suede shoes that may expand lest you accidentally skip into a puddle or two. These type of material are prone to damage when exposed to dampness so stick with sturdier materials such as PVC or rubber that are more waterproof.
If you have Doc Martens, now would be a good time to use them. Crocs’ designs may not appeal to all, in fact it’s hard to put a kind word to these wide footed, holey clogs but in recent years, the brand has reinvented itself with more contemporary stylish designs with Mary Janes, pumps, sneakers and even wedges. While these won’t be damaged by rain, take precaution when walking cause you don’t want to slip!
FUSS-FREE HAIR
The bad thing about our weather is that any hairstyle will quickly go limp because of the humidity. Try accessorizing your hair with scarves or a beret, it’ll keep your hair from getting wet and you don’t have to worry about ruining your hairstyle. Check the weather forecast daily and keep your hair free from any sprays, gels or wax on days when the weather is bad.
KEEP WARM
Whether the weather out there is cold or hot, most offices have centralized air conditioning that don’t give a damn. If you’ve always complained that it’s too hot for layering, this grim London-like weather will give you the perfect excuse to pile on clothing. Go preppy by layering a snug sweater over a crisp collared shirt or pull on a comfy cardigan
ADD SOME COLOR!
While bright colors are often reserved for summer, the colors of fall are often rich yet muted in hues of burgundy, emerald, mocha and gray. It’s perfectly fine to blend in with the crowd but adding some colorful accessories or a brightly colored piece to your clothing like yellow shoes for example can bring some cheer to your outfit and anyone who crosses your path.
Now stay warm and dry!
