By 12pm on Sept 9, motorists will no longer be able to pay cash at three highways – the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) and the Storm Water Management And Road Tunnel (SMART). All toll payments must be done using Smart Tag or Touch n’ Go.
The SMART Tunnel toll booth is situated in Sungai Besi, whereas the AKLEH toll plaza is at Datuk Keramat. On the DUKE highway, the affected toll plazas are at Batu, Aper Panas and Sentul Pasar. Aside from that, PLUS Malaysia’s electronic toll collection will also take effect on September 9.
Later on, the electronic toll collection will also be implemented along the KL-Karak Highway at Gombak and Bentong toll booths, Lunas and Kubang Semang toll booths at the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE) and Penang Bridge.
The affected toll plazas will be selling RM5 Touch n’ Go cards, in case you don’t already have one. AKLEH and DUKE are also selling Smart Tags at RM99. On top of that, DUKE is providing a toll rebate of 5% for motorists using the road from September 9 to December 8, which can be redeemed within a month at the customer service centre.
