Effective today, Malaysian households are urged to separate their solid waste and dispose of them properly.
The first two days of collection every week will be meant for the disposal of food waste, and the third day of collection will be meant for recyclable garbage. An example of waste compositions including plastic, paper, cardboard, glass, metal, food waste, lump waste and farm waste.
In Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Perlis, a company has been appointed to collect garbage, and they will note down households that flout the rule. Notices will be issued and a maximum compound of RM1,000 will be imposed on errant households by 2016.
