Cellulite, or orange peel effect can be a daunting for women. They’re hard to eliminate, but appears easily on women of all body types, including slender women. 95% of women suffer from cellulite on their body, and what many do not know is that it’s often hereditary.

Exercise is not the only method to get rid of cellulite. In fact, constantly energizing the layers of skin and applying skin warming exercises is what you should include in your fitness regime. But the food we eat can also be the one to contribute to the formation and elimination of cellulite on our bodies. [How to Get Rid of Cellulite]

Here are the top five foods that contribute to cellulite on your body:

1. Processed foods
Processed foods are generally stripped out of its natural nutrients to produce more products in a shorter amount of time. Processed foods like white bread, white rice, ice cream, snacks and processed meat are one of the many culprits of cellulite, so replace them with more natural options.

2. Fast Food
Fast food is also another form of processed foods, but it has even worse effects because they’re mass-produced foods that are probably not even “real” food. Fast food may be cheap and tasty, but it’s both bad for your body and heart.

3. Sugar
Sugar has bad effects on your body, and can cause insulin spikes, a process that weakens the protons in your body, causing inflammation. This is a process related to the formation of zits after your dessert binge. If you don’t burn off the sugar you’ve consumed, it eventually turns into fat, turning it into cellulite eventually. 4. Canned Foods
Canned foods are filled with preservatives and sodium to maintain or prolong shelf-life. Excess salt in canned foods causes the body to retain fluids, increasing the formation of cellulite. Fatty, canned foods will push the body to start building up fat reserves. Then, the fat reserves will be pushed up against the skin, giving it the orange peel look.

5. Alcohol
Alcohol’s fun at times, but a lot of consumers do not realize how many empty and heavy calories a jug of beer contains. Heavy calories are even harder to burn off. Furthermore, the acidity levels in alcohol triggers you to feel hungry, leading to bad food choices or cravings.

Now that we’ve listed a list of foods to avoid, it’s time to replenish your body with the good stuff! Here are the five foods that can either prevent or eliminate cellulite:

1. Water
Water keeps you hydrated, but most of all, it does one of the most important things in the world – clean. By drinking plenty of water, you rid your body of fats and waste. It flushes out the toxins that cause the deposits of fat, while making your digestive system cleaner.

2. Fruits
Fruits are vital as it provides the body with essential vitamins, and most of all fiber. Fiber is what you need to eliminate waste in your body and to avoid constipation. However, be mindful of  fruits that are high in sugar and consume them in moderation.

3. Vegetables
Vegetables aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s extremely important to incorporate vegetables in your diet. Work with your favorites first and eat as much as you want because they’re low in calories. [How To Eat More Vegetables]

4. Nuts
Nuts like almonds, peanuts and walnuts are great for your body as it fuels your body with amino acids, protein, and healthy fats that keeps the body healthy. Just remember to go for the natural ones without any salt as it can actually be bad for you.

5. Fatty Fish
It seems a little weird to consume something ‘fatty’ to get rid of cellulite, but fatty fish like salmon and tuna (fresh, not canned) has so much nutrients to offer with very little calories. Omega-3 fatty acids keeps your heart healthy and it fuels your workout even more than you think. Include fish in your diet at least three to four times a week.
