Would You Use This Moisturiser Made Of Your Own Blood? We Would.

First, it was the vampire facial. Now, there’s an at-home blood moisturiser.

E! News host Catt Sadler and writer Taylor Stephan were recently invited to try out Dr. Barbara Sturm’s best-selling product – the customised MC1 Blood Cream.

And it’s exactly what it sounds like – a moisturising cream made with your own blood. And it’s priced at around a lofty RM4,500 per tub. The cream itself is not a brand new idea, it’s derived from the same concept used in Kim Kardashian’s headline-making vampire facial, in which your own blood is extracted and then infused back into your face for maximum anti-aging benefits.

The MC1 Cream is basically an at-home version of the famed facial. It’s also nearly impossible to get a jar for yourself unless you’re a celeb or a beauty editor (HINT HINT, Dr. STURM). Essentially, it takes the same proteins from your blood and fuses them with a face cream.

The blood then gets processed in a lab, and the white blood cells, which are naturally healing to the human body, are separated and added to the cream. By adding this externally to the skin, anti-aging benefits are definitely the MC1 Cream’s major selling point – most notable rewards are reduced inflammation, collagen stimulation, reduced redness and acne-clearing benefits, a.k.a. #IWokeUpLikeThis flawlessness.

The question is: Does it actually work?

Representatives of E!News had their blood drawn by Dr. Sturm so you don’t have to fork out over RM4,500 to give this magic cream a go. A day later, their respective creams came back with their names neatly handwritten across the bottle and an expiration date. It’s got a 3 month shelf life because, well, it has actual blood.

To Stephan’s surprise, the cream was white and it didn’t really have a scent but putting it on does take some getting used to. Besides the fact that you’re actually smearing your own blood all over your face, the cream apparently worked wonders for Stephan and her skin had never looked better.

Catt Sadler was also pleasantly surprised by the smoothness of her skin. “Literally going on, it feels like butter,” she noted. “I will say that I already try to take excellent care of my skin and I didn’t notice radical change on my face, but I did notice the surface of my skin was exceptionally smooth and radiant. For this reason, I lathered the cream on my neck and chest, too.”

Though the idea of using my own blood in a moisturiser is kinda daunting, I can’t help but want a jar or three of Dr. Sturm’s MC1 Blood Cream. Would you use the blood cream? Let us know!
