In the upcoming biopic I, Tonya, Australian star Margot Robbie plays the infamous Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding during the Winter Olympics whereby she aspired to win gold but it soon became one of the most mortifying events in Olympic history.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the incident in question happened January 6th 1994 when Harding allegedly conspired with her then-husband Jeff Gillooly (Sebastian Stan) to hire someone to knacker the knee of her biggest competition, Nancy Kerrigan, before the Olympic team-qualifying U.S. Championships.
Evidently, it was one of the most ubiquitously-covered tabloid news of all time, and it’s definitely a must-watch. I, Tonya premieres February 2018!
