We’ve seen pretty crazy beauty crazes popping up from around the world, but never in deadly insect fashion…

In Mexico, women are gluing dead scorpions, with venom so powerful it can kill within 15 minutes, to their fingernails as an embellishment. Talk about being bada**!

What started out as a sick joke has now turned to a possibly dangerous beauty craze that’s sweeping the whole of America, especially in the South.

Lupita Garcia, who is also a scorpion artisan and enthusiast, started the trend in September last year with her manicurist Rocio Vidales as she was looking for new ways to appreciation for the creature.

Before the stingers are attached to the nails and are encased in liquid acrylic, the insects are killed with bug spray.

Despite being less than a week old, the baby scorpions are still highly venomous after they have died and manicurist Vidales says she never touches them with her hands. This manicure has been her biggest hit yet.

We totally get the novelty value that comes with a scorpion manicure. It’s fascinating, yet exciting. Tell us, would you wear these nails? :O
