Traveling alone may be daunting at first, but once you’ve tried it, they say it can be the most liberating feeling you’ve ever had. Not only will you feel free to do everything you want, you’re also be able to do it in your own time (because sometimes, traveling with others means doing boring things like going to the German Occupational Health and Safety exhibit)! Without further ado, here are some of our solo-travel favorites:

1. Seoul, South-Korea

Seoul is a vibrant mega-city with an endless list of things to do and places to see. It’s full of history and culture, but if you’re looking for some therapy – there’s some great shopping to be had here, especially for cosmetics. The subways make it especially easy and affordable to get around, and it’s also one of the safest cities in the world. So what are you waiting for? Feed your Seoul!

2. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Oh Amsterdam, where could we possibly start? A charming city with so many museums to pick and choose from, Amsterdam is a great place to wander and especially so on a bicycle! It is the Amsterdammers’ preferred mode of transport and is a wonderful way to see the city. Amsterdam and its culturally rich city is the ultimate haven for a solo traveler. Famed for its markets, coffee shops, windmills, spectacular canals, and adorable coloured houses, this picturesque city feels almost surreal. Almost like a little toy town.

3. Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

If, like us, you just want to golden your tan in the sun, dig your toes into white sand, watch golden surfers in the golden sunset, then Santa Teresa may just be the golden place for you. When not doing such strenuous activities, give yourself goose bumps by stretching out those muscles at Horizon Ocean View Hotel and Yoga Centre, and then relax on your private deck attached to your cabin, surrounded by tropical plants and overlooking the ocean. Now that’s what you call a peaceful solo getaway!

No matter how safe a city may be, one must always keep in mind to travel logically and safely, especially when embarking on a solo adventure.
