The Health Benefits of Eggs

Eggs are commonly blamed for their high-cholesterol content, but believe it or not, it’s quite possibly one of the best and underrated super foods out there. High in protein, absolutely versatile and jam-packed with great nutrients, eggs do not only makeup a wholesome breakfast, they’re also great for every inch of your body! Not convinced, here are some of the cool perks that stocking up on that egg shelf will help give you..

Eggs Are Good for Your Eyes
Eggs yolks are said to be high in luterin and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants that have been shown to ward off loss of vision as you age, so this means that you’ll have great vision, even when you’re older.

Omelettes Are Great for Losing Weight
A lot of people stay away from eggs due to it’s hi-cholesterol content, but believe it or not — omelettes are the best foods to have when you’re on a diet. A study conducted by the Louisiana State University found that obese people who ate two-egg breakfasts at least five times a week lost 65% more weight ands had more energy than women who breakfasted on bagels. Lesson learned — Eggs are better than carbs!

They Tone You Up
There’s a reason why muscle builders find the tolerance to chow down raw eggs. It’s because eggs contain amino acids that makes its protein easier to absorb. But you don’t need to have raw eggs. A hard-boiled grade-A egg can help up build and repair muscles after a hard workout.

Eggs Reduce Your Risk of Cancer
Eggs are high in choline, a form of vitamin that helps the liver from accumulating fat and to help with the growth and development of cells. One large eggs should contain about 30% of your required intake of choline. A study was also published stating that women with high intake of choline were 24% less likely to get breast cancer. Egg yolks are rich in choline, so you may want to top up on those yummy yellow suckers.

It Gives You Better Skin
Choline is essential for healthy skin-cell functioning, and because of its high content in Vitamin B, it helps your skin produce energy and manufacture collagen and elastin, giving you fresh, firm and soft skin. Lutein in eggs also serve the purpose of preserving the skin’s elasticity and to prevent free radical damage to skin cells.
